OreoNoHeels Late Summer Mixtape

spotify mixtape

There are so many things happening in music lately, even Spotify is having a seizure. For those who haven’t been following properly, here are albums that came out this year that could be the anthem of my summer mood.

Vintage Summer : Lust For Life by Lana Del Rey

The moment I heard the first single, “Love“, I knew this is probably how I would feel about the whole album. As I said on my article about it, we can find the debut Lana vibe in it which is a mix of a déjà vu with new age music. Something old, something new and something borrowed.

Soft Summer : Dua Lipa by Dua Lipa

You probably heard the song “Be The One” on the radio and are now jamming to “New Rules“. What I love about Dua and her album is it reminds me a lot of my summers in London. It’s urban and soothing at the same time. Makes you want to dance and chill at the same time. And her voice is gorgeous !

Life Crisis Summer: After Laughter by Paramore

The reason that I have to put this album in the mix is because this band represents exactly what I love about music: being relatable. If you’re in your 20’s and don’t know what to do with your life and just let the world fall on your face, “After Laughter” is made for you. Just like it was sang in “Hard Times“, it’ll get you down and laugh when you cry. And besides, every playlist should contain some Paramore, just because it’s Paramore.

Indie Summer : Lany by Lany

I’m not obsessed about Lany as my friends are but I really like their album. Their sound in general. It’s like one of the music you would here in a TV show that would be set in LA, and the characters are having fun in the beach but it’s like in the late 80’s. It’s a good feel album that makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. A bit like when you fall in love with a cocktail.

Late Night Summer : American Teen by Khalid

Khalid is that young blood from El Paso, Texas. You probably heard his song “Location” numerous of times (or you’ve been stuck under a rock). Well, he’s, in my opinion, one of the best revelation this year. With his mellow R&B album, he found an old sound and renewed it to make it his own. And trust me, it’s so soothing, you won’t want to stop listening to it.

Cute Summer : Ultralife by Oh Wonder

The cutest london duo took their time to release their album, but it was so worth it. If you’re looking for some happy songs with a melodic touch, well “Ultralife” is the perfect album for it. They remind me of Alphabeat but in better and successful. Whenever you feel a little bit down and you actually want to feel better, go ahead and listen to it all.

Electric Summer : Party’s over by Astrid S

Okay, I said it before I believe, I’m not into unz-unz music. The Chainsmokers and all that aren’t my cup of tea but those who do like them might agree with me on this one. Astrid S is a cute norwegian princess with a voice made of gold, lyrics that are as funny as they are relatable and songs to dance to until the end of your drunk nights.

Because it’s your duty summer : Hopeless Fountain Kingdom by Halsey and Melodrama by Lorde

17

Those two albums are those I don’t fully know how to class but are a must listen this summer. Halsey because she’s one of the most unique and creative force in music. Lorde because we’ve missed her so much and the wait was definitely worth the listen.

To discover a bit of all those albums, follow the OreoNoHeels Late Summer Mixtape (2017) on Spotify.
